Acura’s mid-size mainstay receives a modest
freshening for 2012, but two of the elements included under that heading—the front fascia and the six-speed transaxle—make it a more attractive proposition. There’s still plenty of brightwork on the front, but the shiny beak at the center has been trimmed to acceptable levels of protrusion. On the power-delivery front,
Acura has finally added a cog to its behind-the-times five-speed automatic, and six speeds definitely make for smoother performance. A six-speed manual continues to be available but only with the SH-AWD version. The TL’s V-6 engines—a 280-hp 3.5-liter and 305-hp 3.7-liter (SH-AWDs only)—carry over essentially unchanged.
